Texas - January 12, 2005
Information Shield, a leading developer and distributor of information security best-practices, today announced the release of The Privacy Management Toolkit by data privacy and security expert Rebecca Herold, CISSP, CISM, CISA. The Toolkit is the first resource of its kind designed for organizations who must comply with international privacy laws, such as GLBA, Canada's PIPEDA, California's SB1386 and the EU Data Protection Directive.
"The protection of customer data is one of the most critical tasks facing organizations today," said David Lineman, president and CEO of Information Shield. "The Privacy Management Toolkit is the only product available that gives organizations a suite of tools that they can use to build a privacy governance program based on OECD Fair Information Principles. This resource will save organizations thousands of dollars while reducing the risk of a costly customer data breach."
"The recent high-profile cases of data privacy breaches points to the immediate need for companies to proactively identify and protect their customer and employee data," said the author Rebecca Herold. "Such breaches not only greatly damage company brand, stock prices and revenue, but can result in huge fines, civil suit awards, and even companies going out of business. This toolkit contains very practical tools that organizations can use quickly, no matter how sophisticated their data protection requirements."
The Privacy Management Toolkit contains time-saving research and templates that are needed by organizations who must manage customer information. The toolkit includes over 100 pre-written data privacy policies, worksheets for documenting and protecting Personally Identifiable Information (PII), Privacy Impact Assessments, Privacy Breach Worksheets and many others. In addition, the Privacy Management Toolkit contains research and compliance advice on over 25 U.S. and international privacy regulations. The Privacy Management Toolkit comes in CD-ROM format, and includes an organization-wide license to republish the material inside one organization.
"The Privacy Management Toolkit provides a comprehensive roadmap to privacy governance and would be an invaluable resource for any company," said Pam Poucher, CIPP, Manager, Business Intelligence & Privacy for Cox Enterprises, Inc. "It contains all of the necessary information and documents that would allow a corporation to implement a privacy program. Easy to navigate, the Toolkit provides a comprehensive roadmap to privacy governance and would be an invaluable resource for any company."
Along with its companion products, Information Security Roles and Responsibilities Made Easy and Information Security Policies Made Easy, these guides provide the best way for organizations to rapidly and economically document their critical information security and privacy functions and to demonstrate compliance with the standard of due care.
